Our co-founder and CSO, Martin Peacock, will speak at the WT | Wearable Technologies Conference EU 2026 at MEDICA in Düsseldorf on Monday 16 November at 17:10.
His talk, Wearable to Implantable Biosensors: The Human to AI Biochemical Interface, is part of the session Beyond the Alert: Smart Patches and AI Driving the Shift to Proactive Care. Martin brings 26 years of experience developing and manufacturing diagnostics, from point-of-care tests to wearable sweat and interstitial-fluid sensors.
Why Biochemical Data Matters
AI can only shift healthcare from reacting to predicting if it sees the right signals early enough. Most wearables today measure physical signals such as heart rate, movement and skin temperature. These are useful, but they often change only after something has already gone wrong.
Biochemistry tells a different story. Molecules in sweat and interstitial fluid, the fluid that surrounds the cells just under the skin, can reflect what is happening inside the body as it happens. Continuous glucose monitors have already shown how powerful this kind of data can be. The challenge now is to measure more molecules, more reliably, in more people.
What the Talk Will Cover
Martin will look at what it takes to turn electrochemical biosensors into trustworthy, real-world inputs for AI models. The talk will cover:
From wearable to implantable
How sensing moves from the skin surface, through sweat and interstitial fluid, towards implantable devices, and what changes at each step.Data AI can trust
Why sensor stability, calibration and manufacturing consistency matter as much as the algorithm. From lab to product
The practical steps that take a biosensor from a promising prototype to a device made at scale. What comes next
Where wearable and implantable biochemical sensing is heading, and what that means for proactive care.
The talk runs for 15 minutes, followed by 5 minutes of questions.

Meet Us at MEDICA
If you're developing a wearable, implantable or point-of-care biosensor, we'd like to hear about it. Zimmer & Peacock is a contract developer and manufacturer of electrochemical biosensors and in vitro diagnostics, covering the full stack from sensor to cloud.
Come to the talk, or get in touch to arrange a meeting during the fair. You can also follow us on LinkedIn for updates from Düsseldorf.
