PARALLEL POTENTIOSTATS
A parallel potentiostat is an electronic device used in electrochemistry experiments to control and measure the potential of an electrode while a current is applied. It is called “parallel” because it allows multiple working electrodes to be connected to a single potentiostat, enabling multiple electrochemical measurements to be performed simultaneously.
In a parallel potentiostat, each working electrode is connected in parallel with the potentiostat’s counter and reference electrodes, which provide a reference voltage and a means for measuring the current flowing through the cell. By controlling the voltage at the working electrode relative to the reference electrode, the potentiostat can generate a desired electrochemical reaction and measure its kinetics.
Parallel potentiostats are particularly useful in high-throughput experiments where multiple samples need to be tested simultaneously. They are commonly used in applications such as battery testing, corrosion testing, and electrochemical biosensing.
