As part of our celebration of the historic ties between Norway and Wales, ZP is sponsoring a Welsh Pavilion at the Scandinavian Sensor Summit. The ties between Norway and Wales encompass history, language, and architecture.
• The name Swansea originates from Sweyn ey, translating to Swein’s island, and references a trading post established by King Sweyn Forkbeard.
• Cardiff still houses the Norwegian Church, established for Norwegian sailors.
• Roald Dahl, born in Wales to Norwegian parents, further connects the two countries.
• Worm’s Head, a peninsula on the Gower, derives its name from “Wurm,” the Norse word for dragon.
• Additionally, Princess Maud of Wales became the Queen of Norway in 1905.
• ZP has locations in both Swansea, Wales, and Horten, Norway.
The Welsh Pavilion represents a special promotion of Wales at this Norwegian conference.
